The Whimsy Goblin is a collection of different things that Whimsy has created over their many years. At the moment the shop is centered around leather goods, accessories as the focus. However, Whimsy has dabbled in prop making, SFX, Silicone Prosthetics, Book Binding and many different art mediums. As Whimsy grows and fluctuates in interest different types of items will become available. Whimsy's goal is to be able to do their art as their main focus. Currently that goal is coming true with Vending events, however Whimsy does struggle during the winter months with vending events aren't happening in their area. Whimsy hopes that this platform with treat them better than other platforms.
Whimsy as a person is a Genderfluid parent that is on the nureospicy spectrum. They love to crate and pick up hobbies quickly but never staying with a hobby for long besides leather working. Whimsy has been leather working for three years now, the second longest craft they have stayed with. They love creating nature inspire items and tend to be more in the fantasy realm of leather working. They play with a lot of vivid colors and have even developed a technique they haven't seen any other leather worker use. They call it ghosting, where they are able to dye the leather in such a way that when the leather item is held up to light at the right angle a different sheen of another color appears. It's not color shifting, but more of a ghost of another color on top of another. This technique is used when they want to create an ethereal feel to their works and is not used in every piece.
They Whimsy Goblin as a business is relatively new, having only started in October of 2023. Starting out among friends The Whimsy Goblin gained popularity in their community for being an affordable fantasy leather worker and not being afraid to do vivids. Starting out small The Whimsy Goblin didn't start vending until 6 months into its creations, starting with small ren Faires in their state. Thier first event they nearly sold out and were given an exclusive deal with another event to be a vendor for the event and to also make items for the "ruling" court of that event. From there they were invited to two other events that year. Every event they attended they nearly sold out. This allowed The Whimsy Goblin to expand into Ecommerce, where they were hopeful, they would be successful as well. However, they went to Etsy and learned quickly how much of a money sink it was. Unable to get their own website they continued to try and get their Etsy to be successful, but it just didn't happen, setting The Whimsy Goblin Back. Not willing to call it quits The Whimsy Goblin took the winter to re-establish goals. Now they are back and filling up their vending schedule and opening a Mayhem Marketplace shop.
